Second team returns to winning ways

4:40pm Monday 1st December 2008

Evesham II 3, Bloxwich 1

EVESHAM returned to winning ways after a solid all-round performance.

It wasn’t a great display but they took the game to their opponents and created chances that went begging.

The deadlock was broken just before half-time when substitute Mark Payne netted from a short corner.

Similar set-pieces provided the hosts with further chances but they were continually denied by the Bloxwich keeper.

The visitors levelled the match soon after the restart but Evesham responded well and restored their lead when Payne scored again with an impressive flick.

Evesham were intent on keeping possession in the closing stages but they did a third when John Vickery found the net at the end of a counter attacking move.
