A RARE chance to see behind the scenes at Snowshill Manor can be enjoyed when the historic building closes to the public for winter.
Winter is one of the busiest times of the year for the team at The National Trust site as the Manor and all its contents are cleaned from top to bottom over the four and a half months it is closed.
People can find out what this involves in its first ever Conservation in Action Tours.
Snowshill’s expert staff will be showing visitors the specialist techniques they use to care for Charles Wade’s extensive and eclectic collection.
Many of the tips will be useful in the home too.
Visitor services manager Dominic Hamilton said: “If you’d like to know the best way to dust, how often to polish and which insects are bad news for your valuables, then don’t miss this event.”
The tours will take place on Sunday (9) at 12.30pm and 2pm. Places are limited so it is asked you book in advance on 01386 842814.
Winter admission applies, plus £7.50 per person.
