Harving wk2

1:58pm Tuesday 6th January 2009

The Extend Fitness class for older people (actually, all the members are women) started again last Monday after the Christmas break. It was clear that everybody was glad to be ‘getting into shape’ again and there was a good response to Julie, the teacher, when she introduced both equipment and routines which were new. The class meets every Monday morning at 10.30 in the Baptist Chapel - a delightful venue which is perfect for the pleasant occasion which the meeting is and Julie would be happy to accept a further four or five participants if anyone fancies giving it a try and would like to come along any Monday morning to do just that. They would find good company and an enjoyable and enlivening activity.

Harvington News - week 51

12:42pm Tuesday 16th December 2008

Harvington PARISH COUNCIL: The December meeting held recently had all councillors present and the new parish clerk, John Stedman, in attendance. County councillor Clive Holt was not present on this occasion. The meeting opened with a public forum in which the new local beat officer, Stuart Toms, introduced himself, gave some details of local crime figures covering the last eight months of crime committed locally, paid tribute to the Harvington neighbourhood watch co-ordinator (Phil Bawn) and indicated that there had been a good take-up of Smart Water in the area. This was followed by a lengthy report on the proposed initiative by the government to have the Harvington First School open 8am to 6pm every day. The speaker concluded by suggesting that two parish councillors should join the management committee to look at, amongst other objectives, the provision of a school bus. Chairman Clive Allen proposed that a full report should be made available to the council for consideration at the next meeting and, this proposal being accepted, the matter will be put on the agenda for January.
