Stratford Stratford Livestock Auctions Market Report for Tuesday, November 25.

SHEEP – 804 head. More forward though overall quality not what it has been in recent times yet trade remains firm for all categories of stock.

Finished Lambs (508) SQQ averaged 113.0p/kg. Demand again firm with best quality premium conformation/finished lambs selling well to 122p from 112p; prime quality home trade types in the main from 105 to 110p, whilst any lesser backed and over-weight sorts trading from 100p. Over 240 lambs and cattle entered for next Tuesday’s primestock show and sale along with the usual weekly consignments of commercial prime, store and cull stock.

Store Lambs (220) averaged £35.02/head. Another solid demand from a host of potential purchasers for a slightly indifferent quality penning for the time of year yet returns were once again as strong as ever. Best medium to large framed lambs to £45.20; mediums sold from £40 to £42.20; smalls sold to £33.80; and smaller, plain sorts much less again.

Cull Ewes & Rams (76) averaged £25.13/head. Good trade for those on offer though no good quality, heavy nor medium frame/fleshed ewes penned. Light medium Suffolks to £34.20 and Mules to £28.50; lighter conditioned and smaller types to £24.80; plains to £19.80; and poorer types much less again.
