Eckington WI THE annual meeting was very well attended and conducted with all reports being satisfactory and interesting summaries of all activities given by the secretary, Sheila and president, Nadine.The treasurer, Alex, presented the statement of accounts showing a healthy balance and the auditor was re-appointed. Janet Clemas, WI A, spoke about all the events during this special anniversary year and encouraged us to enrol one more member. She recommended the many workshops held throughout the year to improve our skills.The list for committee increased by two so there will be sufficient for the coming year as some jobs will be shared among the members.Nadine was re-elected unopposed as president,although there were four nominations.
The minutes of the monthly meeting were read and signed. The next walk will be at Westonbirt Arboretum and Mary Bickmore will provide transport.The lunch group will go to the Bell, Eckington on December 8. Monday, December 1 is the date for our group Carol service at Fladbury.Our well-wisher, Dot, reported that Jean Checketts was improving with physiotherapy. Pam Smith gave an informative and detailed account of the visit made to St Richard's Hospice which proved to be a very rewarding experience for all who went.
The WFWI Craft and Creative display early next year was listed among items such as the shopping trip, lunch with speaker in February and a visit in March to a synagogue. All members receive a copy of the County news with the details of events.In AOB the tremendous sum of £1450 was reported being taken at the Jumble Sale for the Air Ambulance and the Village Hall and there will be a Coffee Morning in December.
A presentation of flowers was made to Janet Clemas and the raffle drawn, closing a successful evening.
