AN Evesham man who has been raising charity funds for more than 30 years is holding a talk on one of his most adventurous trips.
Tony Caldwell of St Patrick's Close, has been involved with the Leukaemia Research Fund since 1976 when his son Simon was diagnosed with the illness at the age of three. Although Simon died when aged five and a half Tony continued his work with the charity.
After raising around half a million pounds for research into illnesses including leukaemia, hodgkins, lymphoma and myeloma, he has now organised another to bring in yet more money.
Mr Caldwell will be giving a talk entitled The Last Forbidden Kingdom of Mustang, where he will be drawing on his own experience of life in the remote area of the Himalayas. The illustrated talk will take place at the Roses Theatre, Tewkesbury, on Wednesday, September 10 at 2pm.
In recognition of his work Mr Caldwell was given a certificate of merit by the Leukaemia Research Fund in 1993 and was awarded an MBE in 2006.
Tickets for the talk at the Roses Theatre are priced at £6 with £5 concessions and are available from the box office on 01684 295074.
